As part of the “Season of Creation” celebrations in the world and East, The Ecumenical Institute for the Middle East organized in its sixth edition a special meeting about this environmental and Christian season with member of the Ecojustice Adhoc Committee at the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Dany El-Obeid, from the Orthodox Church, on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Le Crillon Hotel in Lebanon.

Dr. Dany delivered a discussion entitled “Church, Environmental Crises and Ecumenical Movement”. He introduced the “Season of Creation” and presented the MECC environmental role, especially in launching the celebrations of the season for the first time in the region. He also discussed ways to celebrate the season during all the year to glorify the Creator.

El-Obeid also shed light on critical environmental problems and texts that present environmental issues. He suggested some ideas and activities aiming at taking care of the environment and preserving our common home. So Churches, and especially youth movements, can do it individually or in groups.

Attendees interacted with each other during the meeting, watched a video about the "Season of Creation", recited the season’s Prayer for the year 2021 and received copies of the international booklet, that MECC translated into Arabic for the first very time. At the end, Dr. Dany El-Obeid received a symbolic souvenir of the sixth edition of the Ecumenical Institute.
