Archbishop Raphaël François Minassian as New Patriarch for the Armenian Catholic Church

The Holy Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church elected Archbishop of the Armenian Catholics in Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Eastern Europe HE Raphaël François Minassian as the new Catholicos and Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenian Catholics. The election was made following the Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church that was held since September 20, 2021 in the Pontifical Armenian College in Rome, Italy.

The new Catholicos took the name of Raphaël Bedros (Peter) XXI and became the successor of the Late Patriarch HB Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan.

It is worth noting that HB Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI and the Fathers of the Holy Synod will meet His Holiness Pope Francis on Friday, September 24, 2021, morning, in the Vatican.
