Danmission Delegation Visiting the Middle East Council of Churches

A delegation from the international humanitarian organization Danmission visited on Tuesday September 14, 2021, the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, Lebanon. The delegation included Programme Consultant for Dialogue and Theological Education Reverend Agnete G. Holm and Programme Advisor, Theology and Church Development MENA Mr. Ekkardt A. Sonntag.

MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar and the department’s coordinator Mr. Jean-Pierre Eid welcomed the delegation.

This is one of the many periodic meetings that the MECC team holds with its partners. This visit aimed at informing Danmission about the Theological and Ecumenical Department's vision and future expectations. In its turn, the Danmission delegation presented a brief overview about the organization, its work and intentions. Several Theological topics were discussed, as well as ways of cooperation and coordination in order to implement future projects and achieved the desired goals.

Coordinator of the Council’s Ecojustice Adhoc Committee Reverend Dr. Rima Nasrallah, from the National Evangelical Church of Beirut, also joined the meeting. She presented the activities of the "Season of Creation" 2021 in the Middle East, the role and tasks of the committee in this context, and the future projects and goals. Noting that the "Season of Creation" project is being implemented for the first time in the East with the support of Danmission.
