MECC helps in raising health awareness in Damascus and its rural areas
MECC organized a training about health awareness issues and Psychological Support for 15 women in Damascus.
During the six-day training, the participants were introduced to the most prominent diseases in society, their causes, treatment and prevention methods in addition to learning how to measure blood pressure and basics of first aid.
The last two days focused on trauma awareness issues such as effective communication skills, excellence, positive thinking, overcoming challenges, goal setting and planning.
Every participant received brochures covering the topics discussed and by the end of the training, they received blood pressure monitoring devices.
The training aims to raise the health awareness in society, as every participant acted as a health educator in her community through visiting 4 families in Damascus and Rural Damascus. In total, 60 visits were implemented to families.
The visits included a concise explanation of the most prominent and chronic diseases. The families received brochures tackling different health topics and hygiene kits.
The trainees were able to help many families’ members learn more about the diseases they suffer from such as: diabetes, osteoporosis, blood pressure. The trainees referred them to specialists for treatment.
