A Training for Summer School’s Teachers and Facilitators

MECC organized a training on “Basics of Child Safeguarding” for 40 teachers and facilitators.

The course focused on child safeguarding and addressed many topics such as human rights, children rights, safeguarding basics in addition to the characteristics, needs and difficulties related to each age group from childhood to adolescence, the importance of psychological health and psychological support, basics of first psychological aid, effective communication with children, child support strategies, fraud and power abuse.

The training was implemented in Damascus for three days and participants had the opportunity to share their experiences.

The training aimed at improving student- teacher communication through understanding the thoughts and emotions of every age group in addition to increasing teacher’s awareness about behaviors to avoid when dealing with children.

The trained teachers and facilitators will be responsible for the summer school implemented by MECC during July and August. They were introduced to the summer school program, its objectives and importance.

Another training was implemented for Psychosocial support (PSS) facilitators during the summer school. The training included practical exercises to increase their experience in providing the best psychological support for children.
