Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs at the meeting of the Department of Service for Palestinian Refugees Executive Committee:

"This department is a space for Christian service and love in a world of persecution and hatred"

On Friday May 14, 2021, the Middle East Council of Churches’ Department of Service for Palestinian Refugees Executive Committee held its regular meeting online via Zoom. The Secretary General of the Council Dr. Michel Abs addressed the committee, saying: " This department is a space for Christian service and love in a world of persecution and hatred."

Dr. Abs also spoke about the quality of the reports on tasks and programs that the department is working on, in addition to the circumstances, extreme difficulties and the siege under which Palestine is afflicted, not to mention other obstacles and the difficulty of communication on different levels.

He addressed the interaction and communication between the department and the main office of the Council General Secretariat in Beirut, where he talked about the work patterns the employees are accustomed to and whose modification requires training and time for interaction with each other despite the impact of the siege repercussions.

Secretary-General Dr. Michel Abs reported a tangible improvement in the coordination and integration mechanisms between the department and the Council General Secretariat. He discussed with the participants his future aspirations regarding basic organizational points:

1-      Organizing strategic frameworks.

2-      Enhancing synergy of activities with other departments and exchanging experiences.

3-      Focusing on cooperation in the field of media.

4-      Coordination of international relations and donor entities.
