A New batch of Aid Assistance to the Affected by the Beirut Port Blast

8 months following the catastrophic Beirut Port Blast, the Middle East Council of Churches continues its response to the urgent necessities and losses resulting from it and its tremendous repercussions, through supporting the affected people, especially amid the deteriorating living conditions in the country.

Therefore, the Service and Relief Department - Diakonia, Beirut office, distributed a new batch of aid to 1,125 people residing in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. It included hygiene and Covid-19 prevention kits, dignity kits, food parcels, and kitchen utensils.

On the other hand, the Diakonia Department was able to support the most affected and needy groups by providing cash support of 780,000LBP to 375 families, in cooperation with the members of the Ecumenical Committee for the relief of Beirut, representing the Beirut Churches. In addition, the team distributed food vouchers to 72 families affected by the Blast and are not able to afford food items.

This aid program as implemented in partnership with several international organizations such as Act Alliance (ACT), Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), FIDA, Emergency Relief & Development Overseas (ERDO).
