Drawing a Smile on the Faces of Refugee Children
At a time of lockdown and confinement where people are struggling to provide their basic needs, the children’s needs and mental health are often overlooked.
Many of the refugee children are not enrolled at schools, primarily because the parents cannot afford tuition, a tablet or a laptop and many of them don’t have the luxury of internet service at home.
MECC provided 72 Syrian and Iraqi children with entertainment educational kits to promote their well-being and ease their confinement.
The highlight of the kit was the UNO card game. Children expressed how happy they were to be able to play together or with their parents. The kit also contained reading and coloring books and modeling clay.
