The Service and Relief Department - Diakonia, Beirut office at the Middle East Council of Churches, implemented many health awareness sessions for a group of women in Our Lady Dispensary, affiliated to MECC and located in Sabtiyeh – Lebanon. The sessions aimed at empowering them and developing their capabilities.

This program was organized at a time when women in Lebanon are living in difficult circumstances at all levels, whether familial, economic and social... due to the harsh living conditions. So, they need a lot of care to overcome daily challenges with determination and hope.

The sessions focused on life issues that they may face, such as ways to overcome stress, time management and how to build a routine schedule, and communication with partner and children. The sessions also included some breathing and stretching exercise.

The participants were accompanied by the dispensary's licensed nurse Mrs. Joyce Matar, who explained the concept of self-care to be able to tend to the rest of the family. At the end of each session, Matar answered the beneficiaries' inquiries about their children’s health.

Noting that this support program was implemented in cooperation with the Mennonite Central Committee - MCC.
