The Theological and Ecumenical Department at the Middle East Council of Churches organized a second session as part of the Trauma Healing and Spiritual Counseling program aiming at supporting the victims’ families of the Beirut Port Blast which occurred on August 4, 2020.

Brothers, sisters and wives of the victims participated in the session which was very touching and included testimonies of the suffer they experienced and live daily from the day of the explosion until today. They considered that their fight for attaining justice and holding accountable those directly responsible for the explosion and their tragedies is the only way to overcome their wound, reduce pain and achieve reconciliation after the tragedy.

In our turn, we join the participants and raise our voices as citizens demanding justice, because every Lebanese and every believer in justice and truth in this world is concerned today with this issue. So tragedy doesn’t only concern blood relatives, but touches each one of us connected firstly by humanity and brotherhood, and secondly with common citizenship.

In fact, we consider that the participants’ pain is sacred. So we chose not to publish any close-up pictures and testimonies taken during the session even though they appear frequently in the media to demand their rights to justice and truth, respecting the moments that they passed through with God, Master of truth and healer of all pain and wounds.
