Farewell Our Colleague, Brother and Friend Hayel Abou Jamra

At the invitation of the Middle East Council of Churches and in the presence of the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, the family of the Council’s General Secretariat in Beirut participated, today, November 23, 2021, in a funeral Prayer in memory of Hayel Abou Jamra, MECC dear colleague and financial director of Syria’s office, so his soul may rest in peace. The Prayer was held at Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church of Dormition in Al Makhoul Street – Ras Beirut. Hayel has fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and fulfilling his religious duties.
The prayer was presided over by the priest of the Saint Mary’s Church Father Nicolas Smayrah, along with the director of the MECC Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar. The General Secretariat’s team raised its Prayers on the intention of Hayel, asking Lord Jesus to give him the crown of life.
At the end of the Prayer, Director of the MECC Finance Manal Bechara Bou Habib, delivered the speech of the Regional Director of the MECC Service and Relief Department and Director of the Syria’s Office Eng. Samer Laham. In his speech, Laham presented the most prominent responsibilities that Abou Jamra assumed in his life rooted in God’s love, praising his dedication and professionalism.
From his end, Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, expressed on behalf of the MECC General Secretariat his deepest condolences to Hayel’s family, and addressed a speech in which he praised Abou Jamra’s sobriety, professionalism and extensive experience.
