Annual Meeting of the ACT Alliance Lebanon Forum Hosted by MECC

The ACT Alliance Lebanon Forum held its annual meeting at the Middle East Council of Churches General Secretariat’s headquarters in Beirut on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in the presence of the ACT Regional Representative – MENA Rachel Luce and the Regional Humanitarian Program Advisor – MENA George Majaj.
The meeting was attended by the Beirut office Coordinator of the MECC Service and Relief Department – Diakonia Nina Hallak, alongside with the other representatives of the Act Alliance Lebanon Forum members from local and international NGOs, who participated in person and online.
Rachel Luce presented the previous ACT programs implemented in the region, as well as the regional strategies of the future projects. She also tackled the preparations for the ACT General Assembly that will be held in November 2022. Luce also gave a brief overview about the programs that will be implemented regionally, especially in the sectors of climate and environment, gender equality, and community of practice in different sectors...
The meeting also included exchange of experiences among the ACT Forum participants and a discussion of new ideas, priorities and future action plan in order to improve the work mechanism and achieve the desired goals at the forum.
In the following day, the participants held with Rachel Luce a filed visit tour to the various humanitarian projects implemented by the forum's member organizations.
As for the Middle East Council of Churches, the delegation visited a beneficiary who profited from the Council’s programs, especially after the Beirut Port Blast. The Diakonia Department supported him in overcoming the explosion’s catastrophic repercussions accompanying him from the emergency phase to the early recovery one; through necessary life-based humanitarian aid, and restoring his home and workplace.
