MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Visits HE Bishop Georges Saliba and HE Bishop Daniel Kourieh
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Michel Abs visited the curate of Mount Lebanon Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese HE Bishop Georges Saliba in the Archdiocese of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli in Sabtieh - Lebanon, and HE Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut Daniel Kourieh at the Archdiocese’s headquarters in Beirut. Dr. Abs was accompanied by the Associate Secretary General on behalf of the Oriental Orthodox family Adel Syryany.
These visits came within the framework of a series of visits conducted by Dr. Michel Abs to the heads of Churches in order to inform them about the latest MECC projects and programs it is working on to implement. Issues and updates from the Syriac Church were also discussed.
Dr. Michel Abs offered HE Bishop Georges Saliba and HE Daniel Kourieh DVDs including videos about lectures he had previously delivered on the massacres of the Syriacs, Armenians, and Anatolian Romaïons at the beginning of the last century.
HE Daniel Kourieh also offered Dr. Abs a book entitled "Syrians, Belonging and Citizenship", Archbishop Mor Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim as an example. It is written by the Professor of Beliefs and Comparative Religion at Al Imam Al-Ouzai University, Lebanon, Dr. Assaad Al Hasmarani, and offered by Bishop Kourieh.
