MECC Supports Cancer Patients in Syria

MECC supported 135 cancer patients who are affected and displaced, from different Syrian governorates through providing needed cancer medications.

The beneficiaries’ ages ranged from 3 to 90. The targeted patients suffer from intolerable financial burdens making them unable to afford the high expenses of long-term treatment.

One of the beneficiaries, who is 32 years old, said,” I lost my house and shop during war. I had to flee with my family to live in another city and had to pay for house rent. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer. I started chemotherapy, but I was not able to afford the expensive costs of treatment; especially that I had to borrow money to buy medications. I am thankful for your help. You have renewed my hope to recover”.

One of the female beneficiaries said,” Since the kidnapping of my husband in 2012, I have been living with my four children in my parents’ house. I haven’t heard anything about my husband ever since the kidnapping. My monthly salary is very low; therefore, I stopped taking medication for months as it is very expensive. Consequently, my health condition got worse. I would like to thank you for helping me to continue my treatment, which, hopefully, will be cured, because I am the only provider in my family”.
