Remedial Classes for 9th Grade Students in Damascus and Aleppo
Believing that education is the foundation of peace and security in the world, MECC implemented remedial classes for the 9th grade’ students in Aleppo and Rural Damascus within the activities of the Education Program.
The classes aimed at enhancing students’ knowledge in the main subjects, in order to improve their academic performance for them to successfully pass the final exams.
The three months courses targeted 475 students, while MECC monitored the implementation of these courses.
The MECC team implemented interactive activities to develop students’ skills including goal setting and achievement in addition to time management and highlighting the importance of teamwork. Hygiene and school kits were also distributed to participants.
One of the beneficiaries said, “My dream is to become a lawyer. I was an excellent student, but due to displacement, I missed two academic years. Afterwards, when I tried to go back to school, I was obliged to study curriculum B, which was specifically for students who have missed out on education, and it was very difficult for me. Thanks to MECC, I no longer fear taking the exams in grade 9, I even enjoy studying and I am absolutely ready to take the final exams at the end of the academic year.”
