The Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs mourns the loss of Georges Hezo

Georges Hezo

The secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), Dr. Michel Abs addressed a condolences letter to His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and to the family of the deceased Georges Jamil Hazou, and his loved ones:

“With deep sorrow and sadness, we received the news about our brother Georges Hazou passing away. He was a loyal servant to the Church of Christ. His benevolent and loving marks still bear witness to the Ecumenical Christian spirit that crowned his journey in the Department of the Refugees Palestinian Service in the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC).

The Syriac Church will miss him in Jordan and Palestine. Moreover, he was a pioneer and an example of a loyal brother and friend to serve his brothers. The Middle East Council of Churches will also miss such a servant to the church who devoted his life in the service of his Lord.

On behalf of the Middle East Council of Churches, I extend my deepest condolences to your Holiness, to the fathers of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Jordan and Palestine and Georges Hazou’s family, especially his wife and daughters.  Hoping the Lord Jesus, who redeemed us with His death, will associate him with His resurrection and renew him with heavenly wreaths.

May he Rest in The Peace of Christ. Christ is Risen”.
