MECC concluded the social cohesion workshops in Akkar | Lebanon

The MECC Diakonia Department concluded workshops on social cohesion for 30 Lebanese and Syrian students, at a ceremony held in the MECC Center in Tripoli on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

The workshops which were launched in collaboration with the Orthodox Youth Movement, took place in Akkar-North Lebanon, and included several lectures and activities that contributed to the convergence of views and finding commonalities among the participants.

In this context, the MECC Secretary General Dr. Souraya Bechealany praised the efforts of the trainers to build bridges among people, communities and countries, calling on students to be peace advocates in their communities.

 From his end, the Secretary General of the Orthodox Youth Movement, Eng. Fadi Nasr, thanked The Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Tripoli,the Greek-Melkite Archdiocese of tripoli and Dar Al Iftaa in Akkar for their cooperation to make the program a success. He Stressed the continuation of efforts to overcome all obstacles towards convergence and dialogue.

Moreover, the students expressed their delight to participate in the workshops that changed their perceptions of each other. They also presented plans of action that they developed after being divided into three groups, and aim to implement small projects to serve and help their communities.
